NASSCOM, in association with Business Software
Alliance has commenced a national seminar on legal use of softwares. This
seminar has taken up the responsibility of educating people about negative
impacts of making, buying and selling pirated softwares. While NASSCOM is a
well known association representing software and services companies in the
country, BSA has represented the world’s leading software developers to protect
and promote a global software industry. With members like Microsoft, Novell,
Adobe, Network Associates and likes, BSA is responsible for the education of
computer users on issues impacting the software industry, expansion of trade
opportunities through public policy expertise, and enforcement of copyrights of
its member companies. Working together through this seminar, NASSCOM and BSA
answered the frequently asked questions about software piracy in India and its
impact on the industry. NASSCOM strongly believe that software piracy is a
serious issue because by 2008, 7.5% of the total GDP would come from software
and related services. Therefore it is necessary that this issue is dealt with
at its primary level itself. The anti- piracy hotline in Delhi could be reached
at: 011-301-5419.
