Delhi-based
solutions provider, Infozech has developed a full-fledged solution to recognize
cellular fraud patterns on a real-time basis. This solution is expected to help
telecom service providers, especially cellular operators to curb cell phone
misuse by tracking call activity on their network and inter-connecting
networks. The company recently implemented the solution for a cellular operator
in the country who needed to trace the use of multiple pre-paid SIM cards from
one cell phone. The same solution can also be used for carrier reconciliation,
which is also called 'bill audit'. The carrier reconciliation process looks at
call detail records (CDRs) and tracks the entire path of the call. It then
compares this with corresponding CDRs on the Mahanagar Telephone Network (MTNL)
or Department of Telecommunications (DoT ) networks. This process validates
that correct tariff has been applied to the call and the call duration recorded
and charged for is accurate. Doing this for calls originating or terminating on
the DoT network is essentially raising eyebrows against the accepted norm - DoT
is always correct.
"We have
found that most of the problems originate from multiple SIM cards used on same
handsets or from the same location in the city. Through the use of this
solution, cellular operators can track the entire path of the call -
originating phone number, time of call, duration and inter-connect networks
used."
